Community Outreach and Education are an important part of what we do.
We have done several Community Education classes through our local Detroit Lakes District. “Ghost Hunting 101” and “Ghost Hunting 102” cover the basics of paranormal investigating and then delve a little deeper into the details. These classes are best fitted for ages 13+ for anyone interested in investigating the paranormal.
Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, Minnesota invited us to present at ParaCon – their paranormal convention – for nine years. Each year, we created a new presentation including history and evidence of a location we had investigated somewhere in the midwest. At the same time, we would educate the attendees on the tools we use and the technique behind them.
In partnership with the Becker County Museum we created some fun opportunities for education and entertainment. Our presentation of “Local Legends and Lore” was a fan favorite. We shared historically accurate stories of local Becker County history we found in the museum’s research library. Staff members also shared excellent factual stories with us. This presentation began started as a Screen Free Week activity and continued by popular demand.
A wild idea created chilling tours at the Becker County Museum. Held annually during October, we helped celebrate the season with themed tours lit only by flashlights. We hosted a kid-friendly version with stories of cute Paul Bunyan sidekicks and animal tall tales during the day. At night, an adults-only tour included murders, mayhem, mysteries, and more. These ticketed events were always popular and a lot of fun to host.
We have been Featured Guests with Fargo CoreCon twice. In total, we presented 8 different panels and enjoyed packing the room with attendees. We returned in 2023 to host a Halloween Trivia panel just for fun. We look forward to continued participation with this local convention. We were pleased to receive this feedback from their Guest Liaison:
I found their presentations to be perfectly appropriate for our patrons. There was no vulgarity, obscenity, or profanity. … The quality of their presentations was excellent. They were adaptable and congenial to the various staff they were in contact with, including our proficient audio-visual team.
After a request from SiouxLand Library in Sioux Falls, South Dakota our group created a 2 hour program to present in 2023. With 91 registered attendees and a great Q&A session, it ended up lasting 3 hours. Due to the amazing engagement with the attendees, the library staff graciously allowed us to continue on with extra time. Here is what one of the attendees wrote after:
Hi MPF folks – Again! You were all Amazing at the event! You are exceptional people (respectful, educational, entertaining, and so very cool), and your presentation is still being discussed by patrons and staff alike!
